When applied LMM-6151 can appear almost clear in color which can lead to much thickness being applied.  It dries to a light brown powder coat color and is most comparable to LMM14. Once applied it should not be extensively handled prior to laser marking.

Recommended substrates:
LMM-6151 is recommended for Stainless Steel and high grade Chrome substrates only.

304 Stainless Steel (Thick Gage)

316 Stainless Steel (Thick Gage)

Has worked on polished Anodized

WILL NOT WORK ON REGULAR ALUMINUM

**No testing has been completed in 430 Stainless Steel

 (Surgical Stainless Steel)

Dilution:
No dilution needed. The LMM-6151 does not hold suspension.  This liquid will often separate and needs to be well-stirred prior to use.

Air brush application: Used straight out of container. This material will not work properly if thinned down.

Foam brush (hand) application: NOT RECOMMENDED

Application:
Please make sure that the surface to be marked is free and clear of oils, cleaning agent films, dust, and lacquer coating.  Prepare surface by cleaning with Ethanol or Denatured Alcohol.

Apply a thin even coat of material so the metal cannot be seen through the coating.

Allow to completely dry.  (Dry time comparable to water-based LMM14 Liquid)

Drying time & methods:
If left to air dry, LMM6151 is normally fully dry within 2 to 3 minutes. If air drying takes too long, however, a hair drier or forced air heater may be used to speed up the process. LMM-6151 dries to a light brown powder coat.

Laser settings: A 35 Watt or high laser is required to use this material properly.

Product Appearance:CO2 35 Watt Laser             –              100% Power          15%Speed             600 DPI
(**Universal 35 Watt Laser used to obtain this setting)

LMM-6151 does not hold suspension.  This liquid will often separate and needs to be well-stirred prior to and during use. Color in container is rust in color and has watery consistency.

Once applied to the substrate and dry, LMM-6151 will be a light brown powdery coating.

Other Notes:

Materials will bond to each other.  To create multi-color images, start with darker color first. (if doing a copper and black image start with black) (if doing a copper and white image start with copper)The TherMark stainless steel tags were too thin and warped under the needed laser setting for multi-color images.

You can apply a second coating and laser to create a bolder bright mark.

Low Speed application a thicker grade stainless is optimum.
